If my hardtop window is tinted, and I have a tarp, why do I still need a GPCA Cargo Cover?

A tinted window is similar to giving those car burglars a nice pair of sunglasses. They can still see what you have in your car. It's not the best way to keep things out of sight. You also lose the 360-degree clear view that your Jeep brings you. Just take a look at this playlist of car thefts from Jeep.

A tarp can cover your cargo, but let's be honest, it's not the cleanest look and it is very easy to tell whether or not there is stuff underneath. Here at GPCA we specifically designed our cargo covers to form fit your Jeep with a neat look and multiple configurations for clean, yet versatile look.

Will this work for my soft top? Is there a recommended way to fasten/use the cover with the soft top folded down?

Yes. If you have a JL/ JK soft top, you will need our Quick Release Anchor Bolt (or M8-1.25X25 bolts and nuts from any local hardware store like ACE) to hold down the included Tie-down D-rings. The Hardtop comes with 6 of these bolts. With the soft top folded down, you can either loosen the fastener a bit to keep it in place, or you can roll the cover and store it like this, or simply tuck it away.

How well does it hold up with the soft top or hardtop removed at HWY speeds?

For both top-less and top-on, the Cargo Cover PRO is your top choice.
The GPCA Cargo Cover LITE is built as a privacy cover to hide your valuables under a JL or JK soft/ hard-top. Some users have reported having no problem driving without their top around town. But we only recommend using the cover under the top to hide your valuables. Other hard trunk covers/boxes, that secure your belongings when the top is off, serve the specific purpose, but it is pricey and not as flexible. Imagine you got a big tall item to transport under a soft/ hardtop, you can easily tuck away a GPCA cover on the side or convert it to a half trunk coverage in a minute. but for a hard cargo cover/lid/box, they are not going anywhere without significant effort.

What tools do I need to install a GPCA cargo cover?

A T40 Torx (JK) or a T50 Torx (JL) Screwdriver. * No tool is required if your hardtop has the Hardtop/ Cover Quick Release Anchor Bolt Kit.
If you have a soft top, you will need to check the clearance of the 6 mounting holes, and this compatible Quick Release Anchor Bolt (or M8-1.25 bolts and nuts from any local hardware store like ACE) to hold down the included Tie-down D-rings.

I have both hardtop and soft top on my JL, which cover model should I choose?

Select the Soft top. The soft top version has additional hardware for the soft top and necessary hardware for your hard top.
* If you have a Sky One-Touch Power Top, 6 screw holes on the tub edge are covered by the side window panel on both sides. You will need to remove the windows panels and side panels, and then install the tie-downs under the tub edge instead of the top of the tub edge which requires 6 extra M8 nuts (standard size from a local hardware store, we currently don' t provide these nuts in the soft top package).

How to install the GPCA JL Cargo Cover?

Step 1: Remove the 6 Torx screws which are holding down the Jeep hard top.
Step 2: Insert the included 6 Tie-down D-rings/ D-plates under the bolt, fasten the screw, or use the GPCA Quick Release to replace the factory screws.
Step 3: Mount the cover:

a. Mount the middle row straps FIRST and align the roll bar base openings to the roll bar base (not the roll bar itself)
b. Mount the angled straps next to the back seat gently. Be sure to not over-tighten the 2 straps as this may cause misalignment from too much pulling. * Soft top owner needs to demount the top pillar to install a pair of D-ring/ D-plate
c. Mount the straps near the tailgate gently. Please balance the cover and DO NOT pull too hard. Make sure the side end panels are resting on top of the plastic base instead of under it. *With a soft top, when it collapses it takes over some cargo space under the tub edge. Before you fold the top, the nearest 2 end-straps need to be adjusted to provide the space needed for the folded soft top. The cargo space is still covered when the soft top is down.

Step 3: Attach the Velcro on the straps (LITE PLUS) or snap the hooks on with the logo side up (LITE).

How to install the GPCA Ford Bronco Cargo Cover under the hardtop?

Please follow the steps here or watch this installation video

How do I tighten and how tight can I adjust the JK cover LITE straps?

The new LITE PLUS version has an upgraded strap system, please use Velcro to adjust the tightness. Only if you have the earlier models with the clip and adjuster, please follow the steps:

  1. Slide the adjuster close to the Cargo Cover LITE end
  2. Slide the adjuster towards the D-ring and pull the end of the strap at the same time with care. Pulling too hard may damage the cover/ clips
  3. Slide the adjuster back without pulling the end of the strap
  4. Slide the adjuster towards the D-ring and pull the end of the strap with care. Repeat step 3 if needed.

Tips: To loosen the strap, slide the adjuster back and forth without pulling the strap.

When the 6 straps are well adjusted and balanced out with care, the cover will be flat to hide away your valuables. Remember it is a flexible fold-able soft cover, like a soft top, it is never going to be as flat and solid as a hardtop.

How do I strap in the cargo organizer with the cargo cover on?

You can install the cargo cover first, loosen the strap of the cargo cover a bit, and have the strap on the organizer inserted under the cargo cover strap, and then tighten the strap of the organizer before the cargo cover, they will be overlapping but in good working order.

Do you need a tailgate bar for the GPCA cargo cover?

The installation of the GPCA cargo cover does NOT require a tailgate bar.

What’s included in the package of GPCA cargo cover?

A Jeep Wrangler 4DR cargo full-coverage-sized cover + FREE 6 Tie-down D-rings (a $15 value) or Tie-Down D-Plates (PRO only)
Or a Jeep Wrangler 2DR cargo full-coverage-sized cover with integrated/separable rear seat holding strap + FREE 6 Tie-down D-rings (a $15 value). * you can slide the integrated Jeep JK 2DR rear seat holding strap from the cargo cover and use it independently. It is on the front seat end of the GPCA cargo cover.
The Freedom Pack will also include a GPCA Organizer making a more comprehensive pack compared to the Cover PRO, and it can double as a cargo divider, or Jeep tailgate cover depending on where you mount it.
*If you have a soft top, buying the compatible GPCA Quick-release Anchor Bolt is highly recommended for installation.

What’s the difference between the GPCA cargo cover and the cargo cover freedom pack?

Will the JK cargo cover PRO work under the soft top or when the soft top is folded?

Yes. You can always adjust the tightness of the last 2 straps to accommodate it.
Since the soft top doesn't come with the hardtop bolts, getting the M8 bolts or the GPCA Quick Release PRO is highly recommended.

What’s the size and coverage of the GPCA cargo cover?

The JK 4DR cargo cover is W62” X L30.5” (W158cm X L77.5cm) when fully opened, and folded it is approximately L13.75” X W8.5” (L35cm X W21.5cm). The JK cargo cover is even longer to cover all the way through to the back of the driver seat, W62" X L41.25"(W158cm X L104 cm). It provides amazing multiple configurations with various lengths depending on your setup. The dimensions and structure of the current design are a balance between giving a reasonable range for a reclined front seat and cargo area coverage while well-supporting the 3-configuration-usage scenarios. The rear window of JK is slightly curved. To avoid the cargo cover being stuck in between the rear window and the tailgate, the midpoint of the cargo cover edge to the midpoint of the window should have 1-2" distance if installed properly.

How much weight I can put on the GPCA cargo cover?

The LITE version is single-layer only to cover the cargo area, but the PRO version has stronger support for extra bags and stuff with 2inch straps and double layers. We do recommend you fill up the cargo space underneath before putting anything on top of the cover. To maximize the cargo use, provide support to anything on top of the cargo cover, and avoid extra weight damaging the cover structure.

How do I free up half my cargo area coverage with the GPCA cargo cover?

Want to free up half of your trunk for your taller items and still have some privacy for the rest?
Step 1: Undo the 2 straps/unhook the two hooks near the tailgate.
Step 2: Fold the cover down to fully cover the inner half truck. Tuck the side panels to the back.
For JK 2DR cargo cover, you will have more configurations when your rear seat is up, down, folded or removed. Please read the user manual or watch the video here.

How to smooth out the crease line of the cover?

Please be patient. It will take some time to flatten out naturally over time, similar to any large surface Polyester products, like flags.
You can accelerate the process by gently washing it in cold water to "relax" the crease line, and then hang dry them (unfolded) on (or over) a taut line.

How to prevent the cover from fading under strong sunlight when topless?

Longtime UV exposure or saltwater to the polyester material can cause the color to fade over time. Our material is similar to what the Jeep factory uses for the interior. Depending on how much UV exposure your cover will endure, owners usually wash off the saltwater and apply Aerospace 303 Marine Grade protectant to the cover and all interior fabrics on a Jeep.

How to fold the GPCA trunk cargo cover for storage?

Fold the cover counterclockwise to the right by the crease lines between stiffener panels, tuck the end under the top and rest on the roll bar base, or simply roll it with care. It can be easily tucked under your seats or anywhere else to stand by for duty.

How to tuck away the GPCA cargo cover to the side?

To temporarily free up space for your pet or taller items, you can easily roll the cover to one side like this.
Step 1: Unstrap/unhook either left/right side.
Step 2: Flip both of the inside wings inward.
Step 3: Fold the cover in the middle, and strap/hook on to the other side’s tie-down rings.
